To me, space is the main physical object because it contains all the rest physical objects inside. From the very beginning, its properties were being studied experimentally with use of sticks, threads, rulers and compasses. Experiments showed that it has more or less Euclidean properties in scales ranging from, maybe, few millimeters to tens meters. It is safe to suppose that its properties in smaller scales are same. As for its properties in larger scales, they cannot be studied the same way and always were a subject of ideology. To majority of physicists, only one ideology is allowed. This ideology is based on the principle which reads that the space has same properties in all scales, thus, is Euclidean. Therefore, the first step everyone must make towards studying physics, is to forget all his ideas about the space and accept this principle.
Even if physical space is the most interesting object for you, you must, first of all, replace it with $\mathbb{E}^3$. Your second step is that you forget of points, curves and surfaces and replace $\mathbb{E}^3$ with $\mathbb{V}^3$ where you have only vectors. The third step is that you forget vectors too, replacing them with numerical rows and columns and $\mathbb{V}^3$ with $\mathbb{R}^3$. As done, you hear: ``Why $\mathbb{R}^3$? Not a single number is known exactly, you never need infinity of digits, what you actually have, is $\mathbb{Z}^3$.'' And finally:``Don't you know that $\mathbb{Z}^3$ is countable? All countable sets are equivalent to $\mathbb{N}$!'' The goal is reached, you have forgot of physical space. It does not longer exist for you. The only god you believe in, is the set of natural numbers. Otherwise you are not a physicist. Perhaps, I am not either.
